The first plan: what to expect when therapy really begins.

As noted on my site, due to the safety of public health, all services at this time are conducted over a secure tele-health platform. What this means is that we’ll be meeting over a video from the comfort and privacy of your home. In our previous call I will have given you a link for the appointment and 5 minutes before your appointment time you’ll log in and enter the ‘waiting room’. At your appointment time I’ll start the session and we will begin.

This first session we will do a little more intros and get a little more info. Then we will transition into map making. What do you want your therapy to look like? What do you want your life to look like? If you want a simple space to be heard and understood then that is what we will establish. If you want actionable steps towards change then together we construct a plan, a method and roadmap to get you there.

If you’re the former then that’s where we start, if the latter, then subsequent sessions will flow along the lines of the roadmap, sometimes diverging, sometimes taking pause and that’s the point. Therapy is fluid and ever-changing and there is no right or wrong way to ‘do it’. It is though, all progress.

“Sometimes the bravest and most important thing you can do is just show up.”
